New Skins

Decided to tweak the layout. What say you? Should we revert? Should we keep it but change it?

  1. I like this format better. It works with the size of my explorer better (I don’t keep my blog screen maximized). Do whatever you want with the colors, but I like the setup a little better.

  2. I think it’s more legible now with the lighter background, but I think you can still tweak it a little bit. It may be a little too bright now. But you probably shouldn’t take advice from someone with a straight template blog.

  3. I like it better.

  4. Personally, I like it better. Of course, that from someone who is constantly looking for new and better designs for my own blog!

  5. I like it. It has a crisper, cleaner, “newer” feel to it.

  6. Certainly better than the previous verison.

  7. I like it this way, too.

  8. So space-age! I like it. But then again, I liked it before too…

  9. J,
I like it. I like the one two incarnations ago, though. My reasoning was that the margins were darker. I always really liked the dark background with the blazing sun. Still there, but de-emphasized since.

  10. The color gradient on the banner is slick.

How come you changed the Archipelago banner to the dinkier one? I like the old one—glad I ripped it off from you before you changed it!

  11. I liked the old one better. Either way, tastes like chicken.

  12. I like the new layout. But the Splendid Sun banner is a bit dark. Such an enlightening site should have the sun’s rays casting a greater glow.

  13. I like it; nice bold titles. Maybe the Splendid Sun banner is dark because it is really a Black Hole Sun.

  14. …a Black Hole Sun.

    Seattle, baby!

  15. I like the gradiation in the banner. I like the white boxes and maroon font. I was somewhat ambivalent about the background color but it’s growing on me. The main title in the banner doesn’t seem to stick out as much as in previous layouts.

  16. I REALLY miss the recent posts from Mormon Archipelago sties section of the sidebar. It was my primary method of surfing the ‘pelago, and my portal to the bloggernacle.

  17. Now, that we can fix.

  18. Oh! It’s so pretty!

  19. Ah, wondered who had dropped their links to my blog, but I like the clean look — which brings your blog into the current trends for web pages.

  20. You always do good work J. I like reading against the ligher background.

I didn’t see the version two changes ago.

I’m long after the party here, but I agree with Katie. I’d love to see the gradient adjusted so the sun looks to be pushing back the darkness a little more.

Love the sun not fully being in the frame of the title banner, appearing to rise.

Love the texture in the background, like brushed metal or hand-dyed cloth.

    fwiw,
