Splendid Sun Upgrade
I have updated my site to WordPress 1.5 (and tweaked the layout a bit). Hopefully, things look a little nicer and are easier to use (note the new comment box). This is the first unveiling of a series of new things in the works – look for others at by the end of the week. I would appreciate any feedback in making Splendid Sun better.
I had my permalink structure kind of set up screwy before. Consequently, my archives are not functioning properly. Moreover, links tom my posts are now essentially dead. I’ll try and work on this.

It looks great.
Indeed I totally dig the new layout and the slight tweak in the color scheme. I especially like your use of the accent color (the taupe) to go with the olive and dark red. There’s a nice flow to the site.

Thanks William. I just tried the Websight in Internet Explorer, and the formatting ins not as clean. I will work on that as well, but for those of you who don’t use it, go get firefox.

Very nice. Splendid Sun might get the award for coolest looking blog in the ‘Nacle. (Now go offer you aestehtic skills to some of the ugly blogs!)

Hey, whose blog are you calling ugly, Ronan?!

I use Firefox, so I see nothing but a good looking blog.
I offer a suggestion. You may not to reconsider your close icon. I thought it was a delete icon (i.e. click on it and it erases your comment).
As well, what’s with all the scrolling at the bottom of the page?

Thanks, I’ll change that. As the sidebar is fixed, if I don’t add a little buffer, it extends below the footer on short posts.

JS, What were you on before–Blogger or an earlier version of WordPress?
Some blogger needs to put up a simple commentary contrasing Blogger and Typepad with the up-and-coming WordPress, which seems to be the wave of the future. I haven’t seen anyone explain exactly *why* WordPress is a better platform.

Thanks for pointing out the comment box issue: yet another IE fluke to fix. I aslo notice the botton colors don’t match the background in IE…Blast you Microsoft!!!
I was using WordPress 1.2 before. To be frank, I used it in the beggining because T&S was using it. It is quite easy to set up and use. One of the big reasons I upgraded was in 1.5’s ability to control spam.

I need to find a good wordpress tutorial for a second blog I need to do (non-religious in orientation, on the topic of negotiation).
I like what you’ve done with this (I’m using Netscape Navigator, which runs on the same engine as Firefox, but with a less cool name. Got my daughter running Firefox and she is pleased with it. Like them both better than liked opera).
I do wish you could help a couple of the ugly blogs …

Ah, the wordpress site has some nice material on it, more than it used to years ago.

The WordPress site is really great. I can get by in HTML and have a small anount of javascript ability (very small). This means that I can hack existing files okay. My current format is essentially a hack of the WordPress Classic Layout. The side bar layout was hacked from the Obsideon 2.0 theme.
The first thing is to get upto speed on how CSS files work (which are pretty straitforward). I would recomend downloading a copy, installing it and just start tweaking it.
